"History is not "elsewhere"! They are here, we all make them...; our daily good or bad actions are a constructive part of them; life is not outside history and history is not outside life." - Karl Raimund Popper.

History of organisation

The history of Beleza dates back to 2010, when it was originally founded as Beleza - Ostrava o.s. The first activity of the association was football and tutoring. Registration in the Czech-Moravian Football Association allowed participation in the city's football competition. Shortly after that, we started tutoring and the activities of the association were mainly related to these two activities.

The first major project "Together to Kindergarten" was planned in 2012 and would be supported by the Roma Education Fund Budapest Foundation (REF) and the Municipality of Ostrava in 2013. It was aimed at pre-school children and prepared children for kindergarten and for enrolment in non-segregated primary schools. The project lasted until 2015 and was again supported by the Roma Education Fund the following year. In 2015, thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Education, the morning activities were expanded to include afternoon activities. These brought sports activities in addition to tutoring, which. A year later, the Albatros Foundation also joined the support.

In the following year, 2016, the Together to Kindergarten 2 project was also supported by the Albatros Foundation and the REF and work with pre-school and school children continued. The organisation established cooperation with the University of Ostrava and as part of the activities OU students came to tutor school-age children. The tutoring was mainly for children who were included in the city football competition of the Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR).

According to the new Civil Code No. 89/2012 Coll., which came into force on 1 January 2014, the previously valid Act on the Association of Citizens No. 83/1990 Coll. was repealed. It was the same for us.

Within three years (until 1 January 2017), associations were obliged to adapt their statutes to the new legislation and remove anything that was not in line with the new Civil Code. Provisions that contradicted the NCC immediately ceased to be valid. The changes also concerned the name, which had to be changed from a civil association to an association. Beleza's management decided to establish a new organization with a new name, which would continue its mission and activities in line with the original activities and objectives.

In 2017, the scope of the organisation was extended to the location of Ostrava - Přívoz (Palackého). A year later, it ceased to operate in Ostrava - Poruba.

In 2020, due to the coronavirus crisis, it discontinued its activities with a project for preschool children. During the first release, the project "Quick Help" was implemented, which was aimed at mitigating the impact of the crisis. At the same time, information and other services were provided to clients during the period of enrolment in kindergartens and primary schools.

In 2021, the organisation's management decided to analyse its activities in more depth, which resulted in new objectives and a new way of working for the organisation. <
